A trip to Memphis

I just got back home from my first workout with the Memphis Grizzlies. I had a great time in Memphis especially since i got to see some of my family that lives there. On the way to the airport something crazy happend to me. I was listening to this song called "jokes on you" which is on the new cd by "Fabolous," when out of no where it sounded like he said my name. I sat there for a minute and thought to my self that i didnt just hear what i thought i heard. So i rewinded it a couple of times to make sure and i found that he definately used my name in the song. I never thought that my name would ever be used in a song, especially not one by Fabolous. The first person that i called was Greg Oden so i could brag to him haha. He didn't believe me until he heard it for himself. After i got to memphis i got to spend some time with my family and then i went out to eat with a couple of people from the Grizzlies organization. The workout was held the next morning. It was pretty much what i had expected. We did alot of shooting drills and ball handling. I was a little nervous at first when i saw Jerry West walk in the gym, but after getting to know him i settled down a bit. I felt that i had a pretty good workout. I actually learned alot while i was there. Now im looking forward to the next couple of workouts to see what i can learn from them.

      Cool. Chicago, at 9, looks like they are going to have to trade up to get you. That would be a great situation for you...not too far from home,fun city, team on the rise...Ben Gordon isn't a point guard, is he?

  I think its going to be a while before FatMoon is mentioned in a lyrics. It will probably be a love song when it happens. I got to say thats pretty sweet and bragging to Oden was definitely the right follow-up move.

  lol - thats gotta be a trip - driving down the street and hear your name like that out of the blue. I always trip when I recognize names or cities that I am in in songs.
  
  I remember watching you in college a bit (ok I was watching your boy GO) and remember thinking "Ok, Oden's good, but who the hell is that speedy lil fu~~~ zooming around like that?!". Now you are entering into the NBA....how cool is that!

  Ok, maybe i made that up, but it's gonna happen. I remember seeing you in high school and I came to see Greg and i had heard about you but i thought "He's probably just another pretty good guard capatilizing on having a great big man." I found I was wrong and that maybe you're the better one. I don't know who's better because you 2 play completely different positions but I do know one thing. "Mike Conley is the real deal. If there is one sure thing in this draft, it's you.

  any way if you think when they said Money Mike they were talking about you, then you fail. Song was all about comedians and they never rapped about basketball. Money Mike is a famous comedian.

  It isn't even Fabolous rapping that verse- it is Pusha T from the Clipse, and he definitely says Michael Collier (not Money Mike). Collier is an older comedian who has been on BET Comicview. Conley wouldn't make sense anyway since every person whose name is on the song is a comedian... oh well, this will be a lesson for him.

  Mike, whatever happens, remain humble and thankful. Don't let hype, money, or fame go to your head. Never start thinking that you're "the best" - even in this year's draft, what with all the talk about you being the best point guard available, don't take that to heart, because it will lessen your own drive to be the best, and there will be other top-notch point guards coming along.
