Dream Come True

I really dont know how to put in to words how im feeling at the moment. The draft couldnt of turned out any better in my opinion. I got to see my boy Greg walk across as the number 1 pick and then i hear my name called as the number 4 pick! I felt that the Atlanta Hawks pick was the most important pick of the draft. When David Stern walked out with the results of the 3rd pick i could barely breath. I had no idea what he was about to say. Once i heard Al Horford's name i exhaled and looked at my family members who live in the city of Memphis and just smiled :) . I knew i was headed to the Memphis Grizzlies. Its crazy to me because a year ago i never would of thought that i would be in the situation that I am in right now. It seems like just yesterday i was graduating from Lawrence North and trying to figure out how im going to make it in college. Now im headed to the NBA to play for the Memphis Grizzlies. Wow, its almost hard for me to ever show emotion but tonight was a night that i will remember for the rest of my life so i had to open up. Im so excited to get to Memphis and start my career. I actually will be there in about 7 hours so who knows if ill ever get to sleep tonight haha.

Congrads on the big night! We are so proud of you here in Columbus. We were all celebrating for you and Greg. When you was picked everbody in the room went outside and was yelling and screaming. Of course we started yelling O-H and what do you think the response was! It was truly amazing. Within min. the whole block was outside chanting back and forth! Hey man there are a lot of people who are proud of you and Greg. I played at LN and everyone that I am still in contact with are happy for you guys like you both were our teammates. It validates the program. And if also validates Jack as being one of the best coaches and teachers in the country. You guys get nothing but love from me, keep working hard and keep your head up!!!!

Congrats!! I def see you being an impact player in Memphis. PG are the leaders on the floor and although Memphis has a good core they're missing that leader out there. Do you think that physically you'll be ready for the 82 games excluding the playoffs?

Congrats on being the 4th pick in the NBA Draft Mike. I heard you on the Jim Rome show, you show a lot of poise and maturity on and off the court for a guy who's only gone through 1 year of college. What do you think about some of your new teammates, who are crazy athletic freaks like Hakim Warrick, Rudy Gay and Stromile Swift and would you like to see this team a major move in the offseason?

It is truly amazin, I read over 100 comments from the fans of the Atlanta Hawks and most of them wanted the Hawks to draft Mike Conley and yet they drafted another BIG guy. Well, Atlanta's loss is Memphis's gains. As a Grizzley fan now I understand how lucky we may be by drafting Mke because he will be the quarterback of the team. Thanks, Mike.

Congratulations! Memphis has a very talented young team. Gasol is one of the top centers in the league, Gay is a really talented forward, Warrick is a talented player and Miller is a great veteran player.

I think with you and Lowry at the helm of running the team, you two guys can be hell to deal with in about 2 more seasons. Money Mike on the scene... From the razorbacks to the buckeyes and back to memphis. Hollywood couldn't write a story like yours. I can't tell you how good it is to finally have a leader on this team.

Mike, welcome to Memphis! Hope you like BBQ (but not too much ... lol).
For bowling, check-out the smoke-free bowling alleys (one is in Snowden Grove in Southaven, MS).
Please be patient & careful with your social life. I recommend getting to know the good people at the various children's hopitals around town (maybe trying to anonymously volunteer your time).
Find a good church (again, try to stay anonymous until you are comfortable with it). Being a high-profile person, I'm sure it will be difficult ... but hopefully you will find some true friends here.
If I may, I would recommend a good movie called
