Pre Season has begun
My time in Malaga was pretty cool. It was tough at first adjusting to the different foods that we had there. My first couple of days i violated my diet by walking to mcdonalds and burgerking! I had to eat something lol. The hotel was nice, but the elevators could only fit like 5 people at a time. I hate elevators and i wasnt rushing to cram into the ones at our hotel. When i got to my room it took me about 5 minutes to realize how to turn the electricity on. You had to put ur key into this slot at the door in order for the lights to work. Thats alot different then what im used to, but a good way to save electricity. We didnt have that many channels so i had to miss alot of the football games this past weekend. I really couldnt believe USC lost to Stanford. Casey Jacobson would not keep his mouth shut about that one. Yesterday we had our first pre season game and i had nerves running all through my body! It was different because of the hostile environment. I had never played over seas before and the fans love basketball. You could hear random whistles coming out of the stands and all of the different horns that people would play. I thought we werent mentally ready to play from the beginning of the game. But in the second half Kyle Lowry really stepped up when no one else was and helped get us back into the game. The other team made some tough plays down the stretch in order to beat us by a couple of points but i think it was a learning experience for both my teammates and I. We are now in madrid preparing for our second game which is tomorrow so wish me luck and i will talk to yall soon.

What really amazes me, though, is the fact that he went to McDonalds. Bloody hell! Since you're visiting a new country, you might as well try something different. Mind you, you've got your entire life to eat hamburgers, and it's not like we eat worms in Spain...
A bit of a narrow minded attitude, from my personal point of view.

Sportsnorts: hamburgers are not narrow minded; people who won't eat anything else are; people who travel abroad, having the chance to experience something new, and decide not to are. I mean, did he even try or he just didn't bother? What do you call someone who's only prepared to experience his own culture or habits?
Grizz33: there's nothing to be got over. I did not take it as a personal offence, that's for sure. I'd think exactly the same if he were in Argentina, Sweden, China or Australia. And needless to say that he can eat whatever he wants; likewise, I can think that it's a pity to waste the opportunity to live different cultures (food is just a bit of it, but I think it's quite revealing).
Regards.

I hope you have enjoyed your experience in Málaga and good luck for your first season in NBA. I hope you to qualify 2nd in the Rookie of the Year (sorry, I want Juan Carlos Navarro to win it :-P ) and see Memphis Grizzlies winning games in playoffs.
Big hug from Málaga, Spain
David.

Two questions:
1. I can't remember any names, but there were a few kids playing over there who had a shot at the NBA (wasn't Marcus Fizer over there I think?) - could you tell how much they wanted to make a "statement" as they played. Also, if that was you and your NBA career didn't work out as planned (knock on wood and ain't gonna happen, you'll be Hall Of Fame before all's said and done), but if it was - would you go over there to play?
2. Spanish women - yay or nay?

how many jerseys did you wear at the rookie photo shoot? i read somewhere that rookies change their jerseys about 30 time at the shoot, so I was hoping you could confirm/deny that. anyway, i found an nba auctions with rookie jerseys from the photoshoot and one of yours has a high bid of $460
