The Summer League

I'm finally starting to come back to reality after the crazy week i had with the NBA draft. Earlier this week, we had been going through a short mini camp before we made our way down to Las Vegas for the summer league. I was relieved to finally be on the court with my team and just being able to play basketball. Our team is young and very athletic so we should have alot of fun this year. On Thursday we flew out to Vegas and had a pretty good practice. The hotel that we are staying in is really nice and something that i could get use to :-). On Friday i played my first game as a Memphis Grizzly against China. China had a pretty good team, and all of their guys were tall. When i got in the game i couldn't believe i was actually there. This is one step closer to fulfilling my dream of playing that first game in the NBA. I thought we played a pretty good game overall and that we are getting better by the day. Hopefully these next couple of games will turn out even better.

  Continue to work hard mentally and physically. Study lots of footage and learn the plays. Take initative and communicate.

  I watched the game, you were pretty impressive. I commented on one of your earlier blogs askign abou your vertical and how that helps you as a short-ish point guard, and you said it helps alot because you like to hang in the air and draw fouls or adjust your shot. Man, did I see that vert on display with that layup where you hung up there for like 12 hours.
  Rudy killed it, loved watching the dude at UConn. I'm a Bulls fan but I follow the Rockets a bit because I'm a big fan of Tracy McGrady, and I was pretty gutted when they traded him for Shane Battier. He's gonna be something special.
  That dunk on Yi with the hop then 180 was crazy. I wish I was running the floor with guys like him, Dahntay Jones and Hakim Warrick. Lob it out of bounds and they'll still get it.

U know, I went to LC, but on the low I was at your games more than ours. :) I'm really happy to see that you are doing so well and am working on getting my replica CONLEY jersey as we speak.   Congrats! Great to see a couple of Buckeyes go early in the draft. I also saw the Grizzlies signed you some help in Darko, that should add to the young nucleus there in Memphis. Good luck this season, I'll be cheering for you!

  What's up Mike, I caught 3 of the Memphis Summer League games via Internet streaming. You guys have an exciting young bunch of athletes coming together there. Rudy, yourself, and the rest of the boys are going to run a lot of teams off the court next year. I also really like Kinsey's game - became a personal favorite of mine at the end of last year. Wish my Blazers could have gotten you somehow, but I'll enjoy following you in Memphis. gl, Dave
