Deion Sanders: Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders won’t play for certain NFL teams

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is heavily invested in the success of his players, especially when those players are his flesh and blood.

Which is why “Coach Prime” has been outspoken about the NFL futures of his son, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and star cornerback Travis Hunter, who Deion recently stated are off limits for certain NFL franchises likely picking at the top of the 2025 NFL Draft.

“Now, all of this is subjective because I know where I kind of want them to go,” Sanders said on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast. “… There are certain cities that ain’t going to happen … it’s going to be an Eli [Manning situation]. We ain’t doing it.”

Deion, of course, was referencing the 2004 draft when Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning forced a trade from the then-San Diego Chargers to the New York Giants after he was drafted first overall despite warning the Chargers not to draft him as the advisement of his father Archie.

While he didn’t name specific teams that were on his no list, Deion did mention that Baltimore, Dallas, San Francisco and Washington (all cities he played in) as potential cities he would be OK with either player going to.

Many scouts believe that Shedeur, who threw for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three interceptions in 2023, could be the first quarterback off the board in 2025 and that Hunter, who had five passes defensed, three interceptions, 57 receptions, 721 yards and five touchdowns, could be a top-five pick as a cornerback or receiver.

Deion is on record already stating he doesn’t want Shedeur to get drafted by any team that plays in cold weather, much like Caleb Williams is facing now going from the warm climate at USC to the frigid cold temperatures of Chicago.
