Browns sign former starter along the offensive line that could be needed depth ahead of NFL Draft
Lon Horwedel-USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns are staying busy all the way up until the NFL Draft it seems with free agency.

Today, the Browns agreed to a contract with veteran OL Germain Ifedi to give them some depth along the offensive line. Ifedi gives them a player who has played at both guard and tackle.

In a corresponding move, Cleveland announced that OT Justin Murray was placed on the reserve/retired list.

Ifedi will be suiting up for his ninth season in 2024. The first four seasons of Ifedi’s career were spent with the Seattle Seahawks where he was drafted in the first round back in 2016. Ifedi started all 60 games that he played in with the Seahawks.

Between 2020 and 2021, Ifedi started 23 of 25 games played for the Chicago Bears. For the 2022 season, Ifedi was depth for the Atlanta Falcons. Despite not recording a snap last season, Ifedi spent the majority of the 2023 season on the Bills’ active roster.

The soon-to-be 30-year-old will give the Browns depth through camp and an option that can play both spots on the right side of the offensive line. His versatility at 6-foot-5 and 325 pounds is an attractive point to the signing.

Mark this one as the last signing for the Browns likely ahead of next Thursday beginning the 2024 NFL Draft. Now, it will be interesting to see where the Browns target offensive line this draft.
